Movement to censure State Rep. Leo Burman
As a general practice I planned to keep this blog focused on issues and avoid using it to promote any causes. Doing so would serve only to slant the content away from good discussion on matters. However, after reading more about a recent incident and reading some of the activities of State Rep. Leo Burman (R-Tyler) I have to take a stand here and join the Censure Leo movement. Harsh words were exchanged during a heated conversation over immigration between Rep. Burman and Dallas lawyer Harry Joe. The exchange happened after a panel discussion on the issue of immigration. Burman has filed a bill to relocate illegal immigrants to “sanctuary cities.”
After Joe called Burman “despicable” and “an evil man” Burman countered telling Joe to “go home” referring to Joe’s ancestral home of China and for Joe to “kiss my a**.” While Joe apologized for the remarks Burman has refused stating the exchange was private and did not merit the need for apology. Burman has authored bills including one that challenges birthright citizenship, a constitutional right. The exchange and Burman’s actions afterwards have lit up the Texas blogosphere.
All I ask you do is read more of the activities of State Rep. Burman and make your own decision. Immigration issues are tough challenges for America and especially Texas. But we work through the issues respecting people’s rights, not by creating extreme conditions similar to other repressive governments of the past and present.

Representative Burman is at the very least representing the views of Texans and is well within his rights by submitting bills which are attempting to protect the sovereinty of Texas. It’s about time all of our senators and legislature take this illegal immmigration to task.
Ken123 I appreciate your viewpoint on this but I don’t think you can go as far as to say he represents Texans generally, maybe a small segment of Texas. You’re correct it is within his rights to submit bills but sovereignty of Texas? I’m not sure what you mean by that statement. I agree that immigration should be dealt with but respecting the rights of all as individuals. We are all human and should treat each other with respect.
